UPDATE: Legion Poker Rally and Toy Run Postponed – Westcentralonline.com

Unfortunately according to an organizer with the event in David Burke, the 5th annual Legion Poker Rally and Toy Run scheduled for Saturday will not be running.

It currently seems as if the event will be moved to a later date, and West Central Online will provide information when it is available.

The Legion Poker Rally and Toy Run is back for another fun filled installment. The festivities begin at 11 am from the Kindersley Legion Hall (118 2nd Ave East) this Saturday, with a parade down Main Street to follow at noon, and then the poker rally afterwards.

Al with the Legion explains.

“This is our fifth annual toy run and what’s going on is, all the bikers will be meeting at the Legion and they all have to have a brand new, unwrapped toy that will be going to the West Central Crisis Centre. And then they go for a parade, down main (street), and we pick up all the toys. Then they go on the Poker run, which is going to Marengo, Alsask and Eatonia.”

Not only will the Legion be taking toy donations on Saturday, the West Central Crisis Centre, where the toys will be going to help kids in need, will also being taking donations, as Executive Director Michelle Weber explains.

“We will accept donations right from basically now until the toy run, and if people want to drop them off at the Crisis Centre, they’re more than willing to do that, then we will take them. Then of course on the day of, the toy run begins and ends at the Legion so, people are more than welcome to drop them off there.”

Weber also talked about what kind of toys they are looking for.

“We prefer new toys and especially in light of COVID, we’re trying to stay away from anything used at this point, but new toys range of age for kids, gender doesn’t really matter.”

Al looks forward to the turnout, and expects it to a great time for a great cause.

“We’re getting a reputation to put in a really good toy run on and it’s for the Crisis Centre, everybody loves supporting them. It will be a good time and I hear the weather is going to be fantastic for us. We just will take anything and if the general public want to drop off toys at the legion on Saturday afternoon, we’ll take it.”

There will then be a pig roast to follow donated by the Kindersley Packers beginning around 5 pm. The cost of the supper and poker rally will be $30, with a 60% payout for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd poker hands.
