New renderings of the first casino in Nebraska

Soon enough Warhorse Casino will sit near 72nd and Q streets on the property of Horsemen’s Park, developers say the casino has been a long time coming.“This is something that we’ve been working on for literally decades if you’ve talked with some of the folks that have been involved with the process since day one,” said Drew Niehaus marketing director for the new casino.Wednesday Niehaus shared the newest renderings of what the casino is expected to look like, this comes just over a month after Nebraskans voted in favor of legalizing casino gambling.“Knowing what the future might hold we had to plan accordingly, so we started this process just in case really,” said Niehaus. “We didn’t want to waste any time because we knew if this passed Nebraskans would want to see it as soon as they can.”Warhorse will have 1,500 gaming seats, Niehaus said the casino will create about 1,000 new jobs and generate $30 million in annual tax revenue.“This has been a long time coming and Nebraska is supportive of it,” said Niehaus. “We’re excited about what the future has to bring us.”Developers hope to break ground in the spring, state leaders are also expected to pass rules and regulations in early 2021.“It’s a process and there are Is to be dotted and Ts to be crossed so we have to make sure we do this right on all levels,” said Niehaus.
