Your preflop strategy is mainly based on the number of players left to act in front of you, so as players leave the table you’ll naturally be playing wider more often.
The effective stacks also factor in. If you only have like 10bb left you’re typically playing a shove/fold strategy. If you only have 5bb left you’ll be shoving much wider compared to 10bb.
I recommend looking up push/fold charts for the endgame, and tourney preflop charts for the midgame. It’s possible you’re butchering these spots without knowing it.
