BERLIN, Md. – Over in Worcester County , Ocean Downs Casino is granting holiday wishes for the second year in a row. With many families suffering from the affects for the pandemic, this casino says they’re determined to continue the tradition.
Holiday wishes developed a Facebook app so people can submit a wish online, and the casino looks at the wishes, chooses which wishes can be granted, and go to people’s homes to personally grant their wishes.
Director of Marketing at Ocean Downs Casino, Bobbi Jones says they have received wishes such as parent’s asking for toys for their kids because they can’t afford them, or even asking for tombstones for a family member who has passed away during this pandemic.
Tuesday, six to eight families’ wishes were granted.
“It’s okay you know we all need help sometimes whether its financial or emotional, so it’s okay to ask for help,” says Jones. A lot of companies would cut programs like this at some point to save for the bottom line but it’s wonderful to work for an organization that’s as giving as they are.”
The casino is not accepting anymore wishes this year but Jones says to be on the lookout next year for a chance to have your wish granted for the holiday season.
