Man robs Sioux Falls casino at gunpoint

The Sioux Falls Police Department is looking for a suspect in an early morning robbery of a local casino.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 12:46 a.m. to a casino near East Rice Street and North Highland Avenue for a report of a robbery that had just occurred, Sgt. Robert Forster said. 

Forster said a man walked in behind a customer of the casino and proceeded to threaten an employee with a handgun. He grabbed the employee by the arm and gave him orders to keep everyone quiet. Afterward, he went to a cash register and took an undisclosed amount of money.

Forster described the suspect as a white man, six-foot tall, with a navy plaid jacket and white shoes. He was wearing a black ski mask. Police are asking the public to check their surveillance videos for any signs of the suspect’s arrival or exit from the scene.

Stills from the casino’s video recording of the incident have not been made public yet, but anyone with information is urged to contact police or submit a tip using CrimeStoppers.
