In the same week that we crown our world champion we also inducted a new entry into the Poker Hall of Fame this time it was Huck Seed.
The 51-year-old won the 1996 WSOP Main Event and holds four WSOP bracelets, with over $7.6 million in live tournament winnings.
He is also equally well known for being one of the game’s legendary proposition bettors. He made a statement after he was chosen to join the Hall of Fame:
Hearing the news that I am being inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame this year brought back memories of my early poker days, walking into the Binion’s Horseshoe, about to start a poker session, admiring all the Poker Hall of Famers on the wall. It feels good to be included with all the poker legends that I once idolized and competed against over the years. Thank you everyone.
A new voting system
It was an unusual year for the Poker Hall of Fame as this year not only was it announced only one person would be inducted, the only people allowed to cast ballots were 30 of the 31 living Hall of Fame entrants.
Once again Matt Savage narrowly missed out as he always seems to do and first-time nominee Isai Scheinberg had a strong start in 3rd place.

Whether the Poker Hall of Fame will continue having just one inductee and be voted on only by existing inductees remains to be seen. It doesn’t seem a particularly practical method given that online boom era legends of the game like Tom Dwan and Phil Galfond will be turning 40 this decade and the number of potential inductees will soon grow significantly in number.
