LAS VEGAS – Detectives are asking the public to help find a mother they say abandoned her 3-year-old little girl at a Las Vegas Strip casino.
Around noon on Tuesday, Las Vegas police went to the Wynn Las Vegas resort, where security found the girl in a woman’s bathroom inside the casino.
Three hours earlier, a woman believed to be the girl’s mother and the child took a cab to the Fashion Show Mall and then walked across the street to the Wynn hotel.
There, police said, she was abandoned.
“During the cab ride,” said Las Vegas police Lt. David Valenta,”the woman did inquire about the nearest shelter.”
The woman was last seen walking north on Las Vegas Boulevard – away from the Wynn hotel. The girl is in good health and in the care of Child Protective Services.
Authorities are now asking for help to identify the woman. Police released surveillance footage of the girl and woman walking through the casino.
The mother is described as a Black female in her mid to late 20s, standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 125 pounds. The woman wore a blonde wig in a ponytail.
